Classes prepare for Missions Conference Week
Our host church, McEver Road Baptist will be having a missions conference January 17 - 22. There will be missionary speakers and guests for each service. The public is welcome to attend. Please phone the school office for service times.
Each of our classes will be sponsoring a table for our missions banquet, which will close out our week on the 22nd. Our classes were assigned missionary families to correspond with earlier this year, so they have become familiar with the different countries represented. State Tax dollars and Matched Funds coming to Maranatha
Several of our families have taken advantage of HB1133, which allows for a portion of your state tax dollars to be re-directed to our school. Thank you! There’s still time for others to get in on this law that allows for your tax dollars to fund Christian school, rather than the failing public school system. Plus we are now working with an organization that finds companies to match these funds!
Any person or corporation that pays taxes to the State of Georgia is eligible to take advantage of this tax credit. Here’s how...
- Visit http://www.tuitiontaxcreditga.org
- Complete state form with your desired "donation" amount and send to State for approval. From $100 up to $1,000 for individual, $2,500 for joint filers; 75% for corporations.
- When approval received, cut check for "donation" amount and send to our Student Scholarship Organization (Corporate Giving for Education)
- The SSO then cuts a check to the school and sends you a receipt to be filed with your taxes. 100% of your contribution is credited back on your filing.
Donors can designate a specific student to receive the funds, or the money may go into our general scholarship fund, allowing more students to attend MCA that might otherwise be unable to afford to do so.
As with any tax credit, forms need to be filed and transaction completed by December 31st. If you would like assistance in completing forms, need extra forms for family members or friends, or if you just would like more information, please phone the school office.
Please phone the school for details or visit http://www.tuitiontaxcreditga.org

All in attendance were treated to a wonderful buffet meal and had the opportunity to meet Mr. Thomas, in addition to hearing the vision for our school and view the new informative DVD presentation for our school. (The video will soon be posted on this website)

Thank you to everyone that came out in support for our school, and for your generous financial contributions. Special thank you to our business and individual sponsors which helped to make this event a success.
And finally, THANK YOU to Mr. Cal Thomas for helping promote Christian education and Christian values. We now realize that we do not sacrifice to fund Christian education, rather it is an INVESTMENT in our children and the good of the future.

MCA Welcomes new school Principal
Maranatha Christian Academy has a new but familiar face to lead the school into another year.
Delma Simmons, who has served at Maranatha for 25 years and most recently as its high school supervisor, is the new principal of the academy.
After 31 years as a leader in Christian education, Mr. Simmons is ready to roll up his sleeves and start school Aug. 10. He also hopes to grow the academy and develop it further as an institution that helps Christian children find their niche in a rapidly changing society.
"I know the kids. I know the faculty," Mr. Simmons says. "I’m familiar with the ups and downs of being in a small Christian school over the years."
